Last 14 and 15 April 2016 I have participated with more than 100 experts, researchers and policy-makers in Brussels to the Annual Conference of EuroMeSCo, the 9th best think tank network in the world.
The main think tank network of politics and security of the Euro-Mediterranean area, coordinated by the IEMed, focused its annual conference on the security challenges in the Mediterranean region ahead of the release of the EU Global Strategy.
I participated in the third plenary session entitled “Towards a New Security Architecture in the Mediterranean; What Role for the European Union?”
In this session we discussed the need for a renewed security system in the Mediterranean, mapped the constraints towards establishing such a system, identified some of its possible parameters and the role of various organisations in contributing to this effort, including the EU.
